Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer affecting men. The American Cancer Society estimates that this year more than 185,000 men will receive a diagnosis of prostate cancer, and more than 28,000 will die of the disease.

Prostate cancer has some unusual characteristics. For example, it is remarkable for the wide variation in its natural history and prognosis. Prostate cancer can range in behavior from a very slowly progressing tumor that presents no threat to life and may in fact never require any active treatment whatever, to a highly aggressive and widely metastasizing cancer that is rapidly fatal.

In some respects at least, prostate cancer can be considered an almost inevitable product of aging: almost 75 percent of men 80 years and older have signs of cancer in their prostate glands. Yet few of these men will actually die the disease; most will die of other causes and may never experience any symptoms at all related to their prostate cancer. In fact, although 1 man in 6 is diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, only 1 in 35 dies of it.

A practical guide explaining the common negative effects of radiation and how to overcome them. This report will be of immediate value to all patients who are going through radiation treatment or trying to recover from it. As naturopathic physician Daniel Rubin, ND, FABNO, of Scottsdale, AZ, has commented:

"In this report, Ralph Moss demonstrates a global understanding of the mechanisms and pitfalls of radiation therapy. While the benefits of radiotherapy are often discussed, its pitfalls are less well known but can potentially cause harm to people with cancer. It is here that Moss’s report demonstrates its true utility: as a guide for those interested in both preventing and treating the unpleasant side effects of radiotherapy. For such people, Overcoming the Adverse Effects of Radiation Therapy is a must-read."

There are few issues in cancer therapy so surrounded by confusion as the question of whether or not cancer patients should continue to take antioxidant supplements during radiation treatment.

Prompted by the many questions I receive from clients on this topic, I have written a report  -  Do Antioxidants Interfere With Radiation Treatment for Cancer? - that is designed to help patients make sense of the conflicting information they are likely to encounter on this issue. This 26 page report contains up-to-the-minute information concerning the controversial question of whether antioxidants can safely be taken during radiation treatment, and includes new research data that more clearly identifies which patients are most likely to be affected by potential interactions.
